Women are Crocodiles

There is a common comparison of how men are like dogs and women are like cats.  How often is this comparison made? Men are easy-going and simple in their enthusiasm.  It’s easy to tell why we want and easy to know what makes us happy.  Women are like cats.  Not easy to read and hard to figure out.  Cats and women are  easily perturbed.  Beautiful, but they need things to be that way.

There are striking accurate comparisons that way.

My thought, however, is that the main difference between cats and dogs is that dogs have been domesticated.  They have evolved to live with humans while cats are still half wild.  They behave as they do in the wild and are often attending to sounds, and scents that their instincts tell them to attend to.

So are men more evolved than women?  Higher on the evolutionary scale?  I followed this train of thought in the pursuit of a punchline.  Obviously I did not attend to that.  But I now sort of wonder if there is something in this.  Not that men are better than women, more evolved or more equipped.  After a deer is more evolved than the crocodile.  Yet both are just as important and as capable.

So maybe men are different because like dogs, we have had to attend to interpersonal interactions more.  We had to identify more with what people’s attention were more and make people in wars, hunting and trading events happier.  We’ve had to pick up more on visual cues and give out more cues to make a treaty or a barter deal.  As hunter/gatherers women were more inclined to stay with familials in a tribe.  They had less interactions with unknowns and thus less need to attend to people.  They were dealing with more know entities.

I know women are considered more sensitive and better at reading people.  they care more about other feelings.  And in some ways this is true. However, if you asked men and women, what answers would they give to these questions:

In marriage, who smooths things over and apologizes quicker?

In disagreements with people, do men or women say whatever to win the argument and which sex holds their tongues to not hurt other people?

Who holds a grudge longer?
In the end, men are capable of causing more unhappiness and pain.  Both sexes are responsible for problems in relationships, so I guess we can tell this is all BS, and yet it was interesting to consider for a moment.

GoodRead Giveaways was a good way to get reviews for my book.

Once Upon A Book - Charlee Rae's Book Reviews

5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book as part of a Goodreads First Reads giveaway.

A satire about the inner workings of a hospital and the interactions between the lower and upper class employees.

Not only are some of the characters in this book familiar, I think I’ve worked with them. This book about a dysfunctional hospital staff was an entertaining read to say the least. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. For me, it was like The Office meets Scrubs. The story was well written and some of the characters were easy to relate to while others reminded you of people you worked for. There is no real way to categorize this story as it’s so much rolled into one. I would definitely recommend it regardless of what your usual reading genre is.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book.
